ANTIBIOTICS ENTERING THE MICROVERSE
Some bacteria are problematic for human health and can be the cause of diseases. Antibiotics are killing dangerous bacteria through inhibiting multiplication or destroying the cells structure.
But they´re also killing healthy bacteria in the gut!
BACTERIAL DIVERSITY
Our bodys are home to a variety of different microorganisms. Bacteria are one part of them.
Each one of them is adapted to a specific kind of environment.
PROTECTING THEMSELVES

One bacteria is endangered by the antibiotics.
Another bacteria is able to remove the antibiotics from the environment and thereby protects the endangered one.
TRANSFERING RESISTANCE GENES
Some bacteria contain DNA pieces which are small rings called plasmids. Encoded on these rings are genes which can enable the owner to be resistant to antibiotics.
These plasmids can get transfered to another bacterium, which makes the other individum resistant as well.
