"Exploring the invisible"

About

About the discovery of the potential of oceanic microorganisms

The 3D animation “Exploring the Invisible” deals with a hitherto little-known, scientifically complex subject, the marine biome. The research results are to be established in scientific publication formats by means of an understandable and at the same time appealing communication. Communicating the topic in an appealing and understandable way is a creative challenge. The issues are complex, sometimes abstract and the bacteria and their genetic material are invisible to the human eye. Consequently, it is essential to prepare the content and visuals to convey the information clearly. A 3D animation supports the communication of the research results to scientists and interested laypersons.

Research Question

How can 3D animation help raise the fascination for scientific insights while maintaining scientific accuracy?

Medium & Form Choice

I wanted to explore this medium of 3D Animation in more detail through creating this invisible underwater world and establishing the fine line between abstraction and realism, imagination and scientific fact.

Design Principles

A consistent visual style combines the visual elements and their meaning while leaving an emotional impact on the viewer.
